Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Energy, A-REITs and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bellamys Australia Ltd (AX:BAL), which rose 5.29% or 1.120 points to trade at 22.300 at the close. Meanwhile, AusNet Services Ltd (AX:AST) added 2.99% or 0.050 points to end at 1.720 and Origin Energy Ltd (AX:ORG) was up 2.71% or 0.240 points to 9.080 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tassal Group Ltd (AX:TGR), which fell 4.92% or 0.190 points to trade at 3.670 at the close. Syrah Resources Ltd (AX:SYR) declined 4.16% or 0.160 points to end at 3.690 and Galaxy Resources Ltd (AX:GXY) was down 3.92% or 0.140 points to 3.430.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 646 to 585 and 378 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.98% to 12.196.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 2.00 to $1310.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.51% or 0.32 to hit $62.09 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.36 to trade at $65.85 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.27% to 0.7693, while AUD/JPY fell 0.49% to 81.37.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 89.91.
