Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Energy and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK), which rose 15.03% or 0.72 points to trade at 5.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:PLS) added 8.76% or 0.220 points to end at 2.730 and Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:APT) was up 5.41% or 4.49 points to 87.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Charter Hall Group (ASX:CHC), which fell 7.54% or 1.63 points to trade at 19.99 at the close. Ansell Ltd (ASX:ANN) declined 4.15% or 1.33 points to end at 30.68 and Brickworks Ltd (ASX:BKW) was down 3.65% or 0.90 points to 23.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 784 to 547 and 430 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 0.11% to 11.532.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 2.00 to $1786.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.25% or 0.18 to hit $71.30 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $74.01 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.22% to 0.7138, while AUD/JPY fell 0.17% to 81.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.560.
