Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Discretionary and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were JB Hi-Fi Ltd (ASX:JBH), which rose 9.98% or 2.790 points to trade at 30.750 at the close. Meanwhile, News Corp B DRC (ASX:NWS) added 7.54% or 1.500 points to end at 21.400 and Rea Group Ltd (ASX:REA) was up 6.32% or 6.110 points to 102.750 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orocobre Ltd (ASX:ORE), which fell 6.64% or 0.200 points to trade at 2.810 at the close. Bravura Solutions Ltd (ASX:BVS) declined 3.79% or 0.170 points to end at 4.320 and Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX:FMG) was down 3.72% or 0.270 points to 6.990.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 619 to 569 and 377 ended unchanged.
Shares in JB Hi-Fi Ltd (ASX:JBH) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.98% or 2.790 to 30.750. Shares in News Corp B DRC (ASX:NWS) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 7.54% or 1.500 to 21.400. Shares in Rea Group Ltd (ASX:REA) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.32% or 6.110 to 102.750.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.00% to 15.867.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.32% or 4.85 to $1503.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.40% or 0.22 to hit $54.28 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.20 to trade at $58.33 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.07% to 0.6783, while AUD/JPY fell 0.31% to 71.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.328.
