Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction, Textile and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 7.90% or 35.0 points to trade at 478.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 3.81% or 49.0 points to end at 1336.0 and Tosoh Corp. (T:4042) was up 2.54% or 20.0 points to 808.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which fell 5.63% or 185.0 points to trade at 3100.0 at the close. Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) declined 3.20% or 14.0 points to end at 423.0 and Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Holdings (T:8309) was down 3.06% or 133.5 points to 4227.5.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1896 to 1106 and 332 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.57% to 19.28 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.04% or 0.54 to $51.14 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.99% or 0.54 to hit $53.92 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.15 to trade at $1176.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 113.47, while EUR/JPY fell 0.97% to 119.91.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.64% at 101.39.
