Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Electricity and Iron & Steel sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sintronic Tech (TW:3536), which rose 9.99% or 0.70 points to trade at 7.71 at the close. Meanwhile, Eson (TW:5243) added 9.90% or 3.45 points to end at 38.30 and Pec (TW:4916) was up 9.90% or 3.35 points to 37.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014), which fell 9.94% or 0.71 points to trade at 6.43 at the close. Tpk Holding (TW:3673) declined 8.85% or 6.80 points to end at 70.00 and Li Cheng (TW:4426) was down 8.79% or 17.50 points to 181.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 527 to 233 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pec (TW:4916) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.90% or 3.35 to 37.20.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.17% or 0.46 to $39.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.02% or 0.42 to hit $41.45 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.53% or 6.50 to trade at $1217.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.38% to 32.645, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2005.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 96.31.
