  • Apple (AAPL +1.7%) is eyeing a revenue shift that would mean a gradual move from device manufacturing toward digital advertising, with an eye toward expanding its ad business into ground covered more by Facebook (FB +1.1%) and Google (GOOG +3.1%, GOOGL +3.2%), The Wall Street Journal reports.
  • The tech giant has reportedly met with companies including Snap and Pinterest about taking part in a network distributing ads across apps, in a revenue-share arrangement that would vary by app.
  • Apple already has a small business ($1B revenue last year) selling promo ads for search terms in the App Store.
