Apple announces iPhone 16: updates from Apple’s live event

Apple's (NASDAQ: NASDAQ:AAPL) much-anticipated iPhone 16 launch event is underway, with several new announcements having already been made. 

The event, held in Cupertino, is set to introduce the iPhone 16 lineup. It is expected that the company will launch the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, Apple Watch Series 10, AirPods 4, and more.

Here’s what’s happened so far: 

  • Apple is set to announce new iPhones, Watches and AirPods, according to CEO Tim Cook

  • Apple announced its new redesigned Watch Series 10

  • The tech giant revealed the new watch includes sleep apnea detection

  • The Watch Series 10 is set to start at $399 and will be available on September 20

  • Apple also announced its new AirPods 4

  • There will be some new hearing health features coming as a software update for AirPods Pro 2

  • Apple announces the iPhone 16 with Apple Intelligence
  • The iPhone 16 is said to be "built from the ground up” for Apple Intelligence

  • Apple says the iPhone 16 features a new capacitive button on the side of the device, making it easier to take photos and videos, named 'Camera Control'

  • Apple said it is also launching new visual AI features that are accessed via the Camera Control
  • Apple confirms Apple Intelligence will launch in October
  • "Apple Intelligence is going to transform so much of what you do with iPhone" 
  • Apple says iPhone 16 starts at $799, $899 for 16 plus model
