Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals & Mining, Resources and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.51%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd (ASX:LNG), which rose 15.66% or 0.650 points to trade at 4.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Sundance Energy Australia Ltd (ASX:SEA) added 12.07% or 0.070 points to end at 0.650 and Senex Energy Ltd (ASX:SXY) was up 10.98% or 0.045 points to 0.455 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Resmed Inc (ASX:RMD), which fell 9.71% or 0.910 points to trade at 8.460 at the close. Spotless Fp (ASX:SPO) declined 2.63% or 0.060 points to end at 2.220 and Ten Network Holdings Ltd (ASX:TEN) was down 2.38% or 0.005 points to 0.205.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 641 to 400 and 169 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.60% to 14.600.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.80 to $1193.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.21% or 0.12 to hit $57.62 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.17% or 0.11 to trade at $64.74 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.40% to 0.7809, while AUD/JPY rose 0.06% to 93.08.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.36% at 97.08.
