United Arab Emirates stocks mixed at close of trade; DFM General down 1.88%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Services, Insurance and Telecoms sectors led shares higher while losses in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 1.88% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index added 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which rose 1.92% or 0.020 points to trade at 1.060 at the close. Meanwhile, Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) added 1.17% or 0.03 points to end at 2.60 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was up 1.04% or 0.020 points to 1.950 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which fell 4.76% or 0.049 points to trade at 0.981 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) declined 4.48% or 0.030 points to end at 0.670 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) was down 4.45% or 0.240 points to 5.150.

The top performers on the ADX General were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which rose 8.64% to 0.88, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which was up 3.31% to settle at 6.25 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 2.17% to close at 0.470.

The worst performers were Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 6.67% to 0.900 in late trade, Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which lost 3.00% to settle at 2.26 and Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which was down 2.60% to 7.50 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 21 to 4; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 10 fell and 10 advanced, while 1 ended unchanged.

Shares in Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.76% or 0.049 to 0.981. Shares in Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.45% or 0.240 to 5.150.

Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.26% or 0.10 to $37.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.24% or 0.10 to hit $40.20 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.41% or 4.40 to trade at $1072.10 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.75% to 4.0192.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 97.80.
