S&P 500 Futures: ES Back And Fill

During Monday nights Globex session, the S&P 500 futures (ESM19:CME) printed a high of 2799.25, and traded 2791.25 on Tuesdays mornings 8:30 CT futures open. The ES traded up to 2796.00, pulled back to a 2791.00, double bottomed, and then rallied up to a new high at 2797.00. After another pullback down to higher low at 2791.75, the ES rallied up to another higher high at 2798.75, then pulled back to another higher low at 2793.25. From there, the futures got hit by a small buy program that pushed the future up to 2802.25.
The next move was a small rally up to 2802.75, a new high by 2 ticks. The ES then sold back off under the vwap, double bottomed at 2794.50 at 10:28 CT, and traded back up to a double top at 2802.75 at 11:00 CT. After another pullback down to 2797.00, the ES made a new high at 2803.25 at 1:23, then sold off down to 2792.50 as the MiM went from $263 million to sell to over $300 million to sale. On the 2:45 cash imbalance reveal the ES traded 2799.50 as the final MiM FLIPPED to $670 million to buy. On the 3:00 cash close the ES traded 2797.25, and went on to settle at 2795.50 on the 3:15 futures close, up +6.75 handles handles, or up +0.24% on the day.
In the end, the overall tone of the ES was firm. In terms of the days overall trade, total volume was on the high side, with 1.7 million futures contracts traded.
