Investing.com - South Korean leader Park Geun-hye on Friday became the country's first president to be ousted by impeachment as the Constitutional Court upheld an impeachment motion by the legislature late last year.
The Constitutional Court--an independent body specializing in matters of the constitution--accepted the impeachment motion passed in parliament last year, bowing to nation-wide pressure to remove Park from office ina decision broadcast live on television. USD/KRW and the stock market recovered slightly after the decision.
