NEW YORK, July 16 (Reuters) - The dollar extended losses against the yen on Friday after data showed U.S. consumer sentiment weakened in early July to its lowest in 11 month on a resurgence in fears about the economy.
The dollar fell to 86.43 yen from 86.61 yen before the release of the report. The euro rose to $1.2964 from $1.2955.
The Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan preliminary July consumer sentiment survey posted at 66.5 after a final June reading of 76.0. (Reporting by Nick Olivari; Editing by James Dalgleish)
