  • Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) struck customized data-sharing deals with select companies, including some that granted special access to user records well after the point in 2015 that the company has said it cut off all developers from that information, WSJ reports.
  • The undisclosed agreements, known as "whitelists," allowed certain companies to access information, such as phone numbers of users' Facebook friends and the degree of closeness between users, according to the report.
  • The whitelist deals reportedly were struck with companies including Royal Bank of Canada and Nissan Motor, who advertised on Facebook or were valuable for other reasons, according to the report.
  • The new report emerges as FB seeks to recover from the data scandal that rocked the company in March.
