NEW YORK, Oct 7 (Reuters) - A firmer U.S. dollar and weak commodities pressured U.S. stocks on Thursday as investors shunned big bets before a jobs report that could determine the next move from the Federal Reserve.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 19.07 points, or 0.17 percent, to close unofficially at 10,948.35. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dipped 1.91 points, or 0.16 percent, to end unofficially at 1,158.06. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 3.01 points, or 0.13 percent, to finish unofficially at 2,383.67. (Reporting by Rodrigo Campos; Editing by Jan Paschal)
