NEW YORK, Aug 25 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened lower on Wednesday after much weaker-than-expected July orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods suggested a slowdown in manufacturing.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 31.48 points, or 0.31 percent, to 10,008.97. The Standard & Poor's 500 lost 4.25 points, or 0.40 percent, to 1,047.62. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 10.72 points, or 0.50 percent, to 2,113.04.
