NEW YORK, Oct 7 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened higher on Thursday after weekly jobless claims unexpectedly dipped and the dollar fell on the increasing belief that more government quantitative easing was on the horizon.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 26.79 points, or 0.24 percent, at 10,994.44. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 3.80 points, or 0.33 percent, at 1,163.77. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 11.76 points, or 0.49 percent, at 2,392.42.
