NEW YORK, Sept 24 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose more than 1 percent at the open on Friday after a rebound in August orders for most categories of durable goods that suggested a modest improvement in the economy.
The Dow Jones industrial average added 128.81 points, or 1.21 percent, to 10,791.23. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 14.59 points, or 1.30 percent, to 1,139.42. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 31.41 points, or 1.35 percent, to 2,358.49.
