NEW YORK, Oct 1 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks lost ground on Friday after earlier gains as technology shares weighed and data showed the manufacturing sector grew at a slower pace in September.
* The S&P 500 and Nasdaq slipped into negative territory as investors sold tech shares. The declines come the day after Wall Street wrapped up its best quarter in a year.
* The Dow Jones industrial average added 10.37 points, or 0.10 percent, to 10,798.42. The Standard & Poor's 500 Indexdipped 0.74 points, or 0.06 percent, to 1,140.46.
