NEW YORK, Oct 19 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended losses on Tuesday as bank shares reversed modest gains and slid sharply, with losses led by Bank of America, whose shares fell over 2 percent.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 188.76 points, or 1.69 percent, at 10,954.93. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 20.56 points, or 1.74 percent, at 1,164.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 46.13 points, or 1.86 percent, at 2,434.53. (Reporting by Edward Krudy; Editing by Kenneth Barry)
