NEW YORK, Dec 29 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened modestly higher on Wednesday, indicating stocks were on track to extend a December rally as investors remained bullish about the prospects of a global economic rebound in 2011.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 12.71 points, or 0.11 percent, at 11,588.25. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index added 1.36 points, or 0.11 percent, at 1,259.87. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 4.31 points, or 0.16 percent, at 2,667.19.
