NEW YORK, Sept 9 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose at the open on Thursday after better-than-expected jobless benefits figures and data that showed the trade deficit narrowed more than forecast painted a rosier picture for economic growth.
* The Dow Jones industrial average rose 79.16 points, or 0.76 percent, to 10,466.17. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 10.53 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,109.40. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 19.03 points, or 0.85 percent, to 2,247.90.
