NEW YORK, Nov 9 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks extended losses on Tuesday as a sell-off accelerated heading into the close. The S&P 500, down 1 percent, was pulled lower by bank and commodity-related stocks.
The Dow Jones industrial average ell 82.04 points, or 0.72 percent, to 11,324.80. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dropped 12.01 points, or 0.98 percent, to 1,211.24. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 22.04 points, or 0.85 percent, to 2,558.01. (Reporting by Rodrigo Campos; Editing by Jan Paschal)
