NEW YORK, Feb 7 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Monday, boosted by merger news and rising metals prices as investors bet on a stronger global economy.
* The S&P 500 rose above resistance at 1,313.15 to hit its highest intraday level since June 2008.
* The Dow Jones industrial average gained 22.33 points, or 0.18 percent, to 12,114.48. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 3.31 points, or 0.25 percent, to 1,314.18. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 3.81 points, or 0.14 percent, to 2,773.11. (Reporting by Edward Krudy; Editing by Kenneth Barry)
