NEW YORK, Nov 4 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose on Thursday, with the S&P 500 hitting its highest level in more than two years a day after the Federal Reserve unveiled a plan to boost the economy.
* Bank stocks climbed in afternoon trading after a media report that the Fed may soon allow some stronger banks to increase their dividends.
* The Dow Jones industrial average gained 207.83 points, or 1.85 percent, to 11,422.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 21.27 points, or 1.78 percent, to 1,219.23. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 31.93 points, or 1.26 percent, to 2,572.20.
