NEW YORK, Oct 12 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 briefly turned higher while the Dow trimmed losses on Tuesday after minutes from the last Federal Reserve policy meeting were released.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 21.80 points, or 0.20 percent, at 10,988.54. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 0.56 of a point, or 0.05 percent, at 1,164.76, after briefly trading higher. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 6.57 points, or 0.27 percent, at 2,408.90.
