NEW YORK, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended slightly higher on Thursday, with the S&P 500 hovering around two-year highs, a trend investors expect to continue through the rest of the year.
The S&P 500 closed above 1,228.74, the 61.8 percent Fibonacci retracement of the 2007-2009 market slide, while the Nasdaq closed at its highest level since Dec. 31, 2007.
The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 2.35 points, or 0.02 percent, to 11,370.13, according to the latest available figures. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 4.72 points, or 0.38 percent, to 1,233.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 7.51 points, or 0.29 percent, to 2,616.67.
