NEW YORK, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The Nasdaq extended losses and was down more than 1 percent on Wednesday, after a broker's downgrade in the chip sector.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 24.11 points, or 0.22 percent, at 10,920.61. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 5.50 points, or 0.47 percent, at 1,155.25. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 29.95 points, or 1.25 percent, at 2,369.88. (Reporting by Caroline Valetkevitch; Editing by Jan Paschal)
