NEW YORK, Oct 1 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks rose at the open on Friday as a pick up in Chinese manufacturing eased concerns about the state of the global economy.
Investors also are looking ahead to U.S. manufacturing data later in the day.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 70.31 points, or 0.65 percent, at 10,858.36. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 8.48 points, or 0.74 percent, at 1,149.68.
