NEW YORK, Oct 15 (Reuters) - Technology shares outperformed the overall market on Friday, with the Nasdaq Composite rising more than 1 percent led by gains in Google and Apple.
The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 17.63 points, or 0.16 percent, to 11,076.94. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 2.80 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,176.61. The Nasdaq Composite rose 28.35 points, or 1.16 percent, to 2,463.73.
Over a dozen brokerages raised their price targets on Google Inc after the Web search engine leader showed strength in its new businesses. Its shares jumped 11 percent to a session high of $599.78. Apple rose 2.5 percent to $309.96.
Weakness in bank shares kept overall market gains in check.
