NEW YORK, April 13 (Reuters) - The Dow and the S&P 500 fell on Wednesday as JPMorgan Chase & Co's strong profit growth failed to convince investors that the performance could be repeated, or that the results would translate to other companies.
Shares of JPMorgan, a Dow component, fell 0.9 percent to $46.22.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 22.63 points, or 0.18 percent, at 12,240.95, near its session low at 12,224.45. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 3.62 points, or 0.28 percent, at 1,310.54, near a session low at 1,309.19. But the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 3.79 points, or 0.14 percent, at 2,748.58.
