* TEPCO to revise design reactors at new plant-Yomiuri
* Company says has not decided on delay, design revision (Adds details, company comment)
TOKYO, April 21 (Reuters) - Tokyo Electric Power Co expects a significant delay in the launch of its Higashidori nuclear plant to take into account new safety measures to protect against earthquakes and tsunamis, the Yomiuri newspaper said on Thursday, citing an interview with Tokyo Electric Vice President Takashi Fujimoto.
Tokyo Electric had previously planned to launch the 1,385-megawatt No.1 reactor at its fourth nuclear plant in March 2017 and the 1,385-MW No.2 reactor as early as 2020.
The company is struggling to resolve a radiation crisis at its Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, which was knocked out by the magnitude 9.0 quake and tsunami that devastated the northeast coast on March 11.
Tokyo Electric will revise the design of the No.1 and No.2 reactors at the plant in Aomori prefecture in the north, the newspaper said.
The company, however, said in a statement that there is no truth to the report and that it has not decided to delay the launch or revise the design of the Higashidori plant. (Reporting by Osamu Tsukimori; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
