Meanwhile, Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) added 3.86% or 13.40 points to end at 360.60 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 3.84% or 30.60 points to 828.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which fell 3.39% or 250.00 points to trade at 7,120.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) declined 2.78% or 52.50 points to end at 1,838.00 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) was down 2.67% or 3.80 points to 138.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1115 to 693 and 661 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.28% or 7.60 to $2,671.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.59% or 1.17 to hit $74.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.38% or 1.07 to trade at $78.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.51% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.62% at 102.38.
