Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 2.45% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG), which rose 8.39% or 34.70 points to trade at 448.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 0.86% or 5.20 points to end at 611.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 0.74% or 48.00 points to 6546.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which fell 6.54% or 14.20 points to trade at 202.90 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 6.25% or 56.40 points to end at 846.00 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) was down 6.13% or 104.50 points to 1600.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1659 to 489 and 171 ended unchanged.
Shares in Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.54% or 14.20 to 202.90.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.80% or 25.85 to $1458.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.08% or 1.66 to hit $55.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.68% or 1.62 to trade at $62.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.12% to 1.2145, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.9152.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 97.843.
