Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 2.37% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC), which rose 1.47% or 2.90 points to trade at 199.90 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 0.23% or 0.40 points to end at 177.00 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 0.05% or 0.40 points to 751.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which fell 11.13% or 528.00 points to trade at 4215.00 at the close. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 5.21% or 71.00 points to end at 1293.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was down 4.69% or 18.15 points to 369.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1474 to 551 and 285 ended unchanged.
Shares in Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 11.13% or 528.00 to 4215.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.20% or 2.60 to $1268.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.39% or 0.27 to hit $68.31 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.50% or 1.13 to trade at $74.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.06% to 1.3272, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8814.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 94.00.
