Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 1.47%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which rose 3.86% or 71.00 points to trade at 1911.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 3.02% or 174.00 points to end at 5940.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) was up 2.67% or 42.50 points to 1634.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL), which fell 5.48% or 20.40 points to trade at 351.60 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 3.76% or 142.00 points to end at 3638.50 and Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML) was down 3.45% or 8.80 points to 246.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1348 to 575 and 122 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.17% or 15.30 to $1320.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.16% or 0.10 to hit $61.09 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.25 to trade at $64.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.3763, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8948.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 89.99.
