Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.46% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which rose 7.27% or 11.80 points to trade at 174.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) added 2.26% or 7.90 points to end at 357.30 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 1.66% or 15.00 points to 916.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which fell 7.38% or 520.00 points to trade at 6524.00 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) declined 4.01% or 8.80 points to end at 210.70 and AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) was down 2.97% or 149.50 points to 4886.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1732 to 346 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.38% or 520.00 to 6524.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.11% or 1.50 to $1338.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.95% or 0.62 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.41 to trade at $68.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.69% to 1.4015, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8857.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 89.36.
