Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Chemicals and Industrial Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.31% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 9.11% or 81.60 points to trade at 977.20 at the close. Meanwhile, British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) added 4.24% or 142.50 points to end at 3504.50 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was up 4.08% or 40.00 points to 1020.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG), which fell 5.61% or 30.20 points to trade at 507.80 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) declined 5.25% or 54.30 points to end at 980.20 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) was down 5.10% or 340.0 points to 6325.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1759 to 366 and 216 ended unchanged.
Shares in St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.25% or 54.30 to 980.20.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.20% or 14.70 to $1235.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.31% or 2.98 to hit $66.19 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.45% or 3.55 to trade at $76.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8839.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 95.58.
