Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food Producers, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Mobile Telecommunications sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.00% or 26.60 points to trade at 914.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Provident Financial (LON:PFG) added 2.80% or 25.82 points to end at 947.60 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.07% or 7.65 points to 376.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 6.33% or 10.80 points to trade at 159.95 at the close. St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) declined 3.22% or 37.00 points to end at 1113.00 and WPP PLC (LON:WPP) was down 3.01% or 36.00 points to 1159.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1189 to 703 and 150 ended unchanged.
Shares in WPP PLC (LON:WPP) fell to 3-years lows; down 3.01% or 36.00 to 1159.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.51% or 6.70 to $1327.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.03% or 0.63 to hit $60.73 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.27 to trade at $64.68 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.55% to 1.3983, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 89.61.
