Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Beverage and Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 18.59% or 360.00 points to trade at 2296.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 3.66% or 4.05 points to end at 114.65 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 2.51% or 4.70 points to 191.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which fell 3.72% or 82.00 points to trade at 2122.00 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 3.43% or 18.50 points to end at 521.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was down 3.06% or 38.00 points to 1204.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1137 to 962 and 220 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.48% or 7.35 to $1508.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $55.69 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.07 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.05% to 1.2253, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.9046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 98.083.
