Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 7.11% or 70.20 points to trade at 1058.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) added 3.42% or 21.40 points to end at 646.80 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) was up 3.21% or 140.00 points to 4497.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which fell 9.76% or 14.45 points to trade at 133.60 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.74% or 59.50 points to end at 1530.00 and Merlin Entertainments PLC (LON:MERL) was down 3.64% or 14.20 points to 376.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1371 to 612 and 289 ended unchanged.
Shares in Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) rose to 3-years highs; up 7.11% or 70.20 to 1058.00.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.38% or 4.70 to $1222.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.98% or 1.34 to hit $69.00 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.99 to trade at $73.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.65% to 1.3042, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8907.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 94.78.
