Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 1.55% or 330.00 points to trade at 21,650.00 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 1.19% or 3.20 points to end at 272.80 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 1.18% or 4.30 points to 367.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which fell 14.03% or 880.00 points to trade at 5,392.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 3.47% or 63.00 points to end at 1,752.50 and Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV) was down 3.31% or 23.50 points to 686.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1094 to 719 and 618 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.17% or 31.49 to $2,717.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.76% or 0.52 to hit $68.89 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.42 to trade at $72.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.28, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 106.17.
