Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Software & Computer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.87% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 3.52% or 218.00 points to trade at 6416.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) added 3.14% or 10.70 points to end at 351.20 and Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) was up 2.27% or 145.00 points to 6530.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which fell 7.00% or 75.00 points to trade at 997.00 at the close. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 4.55% or 10.95 points to end at 229.60 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) was down 4.10% or 14.90 points to 348.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1569 to 502 and 288 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.00% or 12.30 to $1241.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $67.44 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.38 to trade at $77.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.15% to 1.2836, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8886.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 96.12.
