Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Electrical and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Babcock International Group PLC (LON:BAB), which rose 3.57% or 28.00 points to trade at 812.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) added 3.40% or 176.00 points to end at 5350.00 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 2.63% or 3.50 points to 136.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which fell 9.42% or 64.00 points to trade at 615.60 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) declined 2.82% or 28.60 points to end at 985.40 and Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) was down 2.32% or 31.50 points to 1326.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1232 to 741 and 329 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.10% or 14.20 to $1303.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.02% or 0.73 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.64% or 0.51 to trade at $79.29 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.26% to 1.3383, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8763.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.71.
