Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Forestry & Paper sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.81% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU), which rose 1.94% or 15.00 points to trade at 789.20 at the close. Meanwhile, British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) added 1.36% or 41.00 points to end at 3049.50 and National Grid PLC (LON:NG) was up 0.97% or 8.20 points to 851.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Just Eat (LON:JE), which fell 5.96% or 48.20 points to trade at 760.60 at the close. Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) declined 5.55% or 37.70 points to end at 641.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was down 5.19% or 92.80 points to 1696.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1557 to 551 and 180 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.65 to $1529.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.74% or 0.96 to hit $54.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.30% or 1.37 to trade at $58.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.2116, while EUR/GBP fell 0.79% to 0.9160.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 98.058.
