Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Electrical and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS), which rose 5.53% or 368.00 points to trade at 7020.00 at the close. Meanwhile, GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK) added 2.24% or 32.2 points to end at 1469.6 and British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) was up 2.16% or 57.50 points to 2721.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which fell 5.17% or 57.50 points to trade at 1054.00 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 5.16% or 23.90 points to end at 439.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was down 5.04% or 7.90 points to 148.95.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1706 to 389 and 278 ended unchanged.
Shares in EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.17% or 57.50 to 1054.00. Shares in Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.16% or 23.90 to 439.00. Shares in Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.04% or 7.90 to 148.95.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 2.40 to $1250.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.01% or 1.06 to hit $51.55 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.33% or 0.82 to trade at $60.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.45% to 1.2567, while EUR/GBP rose 1.15% to 0.9046.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 97.050.
