Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Household Goods & Home Construction and Industrial Transportation sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which rose 3.17% or 175.00 points to trade at 5700.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Schroders PLC (LON:SDR) added 2.68% or 68.00 points to end at 2609.00 and Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) was up 2.64% or 6.30 points to 244.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Old Mutual Ltd (LON:OMU), which fell 3.36% or 3.84 points to trade at 110.32 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 2.71% or 61.00 points to end at 2187.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was down 1.87% or 40.00 points to 2100.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1191 to 903 and 321 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.54% or 7.05 to $1292.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.16% or 0.65 to hit $56.72 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 1.11% or 0.73 to trade at $66.47 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.95% to 1.3138, while EUR/GBP fell 0.91% to 0.8552.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 97.208.
