Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which rose 2.58% or 29.00 points to trade at 1154.50 at the close. Meanwhile, International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 1.86% or 11.20 points to end at 614.60 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 1.80% or 55.00 points to 3109.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK), which fell 10.45% or 150.00 points to trade at 1285.00 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) declined 7.62% or 13.20 points to end at 160.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was down 4.56% or 88.00 points to 1843.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1242 to 709 and 148 ended unchanged.
Shares in Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.45% or 150.00 to 1285.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.19% or 2.50 to $1321.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.19% or 0.75 to hit $62.26 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 0.95 to trade at $65.57 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.88% to 1.3787, while EUR/GBP rose 0.73% to 0.8859.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 90.47.
