Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Food Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which rose 1.50% or 40.00 points to trade at 2,710.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) added 1.40% or 16.50 points to end at 1,198.50 and United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) was up 1.14% or 12.00 points to 1,068.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:VTYV), which fell 6.29% or 90.00 points to trade at 1,340.00 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 5.18% or 33.00 points to end at 604.40 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was down 3.76% or 64.00 points to 1,638.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1200 to 584 and 691 ended unchanged.
Shares in Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.18% or 33.00 to 604.40.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.52% or 13.10 to $2,530.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.18% or 1.51 to hit $67.64 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.15% or 1.56 to trade at $71.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.38% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 101.21.
