Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Just Eat (LON:JE), which rose 2.79% or 17.40 points to trade at 642.20 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 2.39% or 4.80 points to end at 205.30 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 1.36% or 10.80 points to 802.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which fell 3.83% or 188.00 points to trade at 4723.50 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 2.92% or 26.60 points to end at 882.80 and Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) was down 2.92% or 71.00 points to 2365.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1303 to 829 and 235 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.41% or 20.05 to $1400.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.24% or 0.14 to hit $57.48 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.11 to trade at $64.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.48% to 1.2516, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8965.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.59% at 96.903.
