Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Mining and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were ITV PLC (LON:ITV), which rose 6.59% or 7.00 points to trade at 113.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 6.53% or 54.00 points to end at 881.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 3.86% or 6.45 points to 173.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which fell 4.60% or 222.00 points to trade at 4606.50 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) declined 4.51% or 32.20 points to end at 682.40 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was down 4.00% or 81.70 points to 1960.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1100 to 1030 and 211 ended unchanged.
Shares in Informa PLC (LON:INF) rose to all time highs; up 6.53% or 54.00 to 881.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1421.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $56.75 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.44% or 0.28 to trade at $64.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.2495, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.393.
